The talk of Karen National Union&#8217;s advisor, May-Oo Mutraw, and the subsequent discussion covered a number of strategic approaches to address gender equality in the constitution at the state and the union levels. Protection of women&#8217;s rights, women&#8217;s political participation and representation, and customary law issues are the three primary areas of the Constitution that require careful attention. Gender intersecting with ethnicity is a key to advance gender equality in Myanmar, which should be guaranteed in the constitution.
